Workshop Description
This workshop is designed to provide the latest movement technique training strategies for sports performance coaches who wish to enhance their speed and agility programs. The program focuses on Acceleration mechanics, Top Speed/Optimal Speed mechanics and Change of Direction Mechanics. Topics will be presented both in the lecture format followed by a practical “learn by doing” session.
Workshop Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Understand basic coaching concepts
- Understand general force production, body alignment, and energy system utilization principles and how they apply to sports performance coaching and program design
- Understand the physics and biomechanics of Acceleration
- Demonstrate and teach the proper Acceleration biomechanics
- Demonstrate and teach the proper progression of Acceleration training
- Understand the physics and biomechanics of Top Speed/Optimal Speed
- Demonstrate and teach the proper Top Speed/Optimal Speed biomechanics
- Demonstrate and teach the proper progression of the stride cycle
- Demonstrate and teach a proper athletic position
- Demonstrate and teach athletic position strengthening drills
- Demonstrate and teach the progression of the 4 common movements of change of direction
- Demonstrate and teach the progression of the 4 common cutting techniques
Intended Audience
This workshop is for strength and conditioning coaches, sports performance coaches, team coaches, personal trainers and any other fitness professionals who design and implement speed and agility programs with their athletes.
